Dear Dietitian,

I am referring Mr. George Matthews, a 58-year-old patient with newly diagnosed hyperlipidemia, for dietary assessment and counselling.

Mr. Matthews has a BMI of 28.5 and a long-standing history of hypertension. Recent blood tests showed elevated cholesterol levels, with total cholesterol at 6.9 mmol/L and LDL at 4.8 mmol/L. He has a sedentary lifestyle as a taxi driver and frequently consumes fast food and red meat, with little vegetable intake.

Although medication has been discussed, he is keen to attempt lifestyle modification first. He is motivated to improve his diet and reduce cardiovascular risk factors.

I would appreciate your input in developing a heart-healthy dietary plan that focuses on reducing saturated fats, increasing fibre, and incorporating practical meal choices that suit his work schedule.

Yours sincerely,
