Dear Ms. Kapoor,

Max was admitted today after ingesting chocolate cake. Chocolate contains theobromine, a compound toxic to dogs. Prompt treatment has helped prevent serious complications.

We induced vomiting to remove the ingested material, administered activated charcoal to prevent further absorption, and provided intravenous fluids for hydration. Diazepam was also given to control mild tremors. After six hours of observation, Max was stable and alert.

At home, please ensure he drinks water regularly and receives a bland diet for the next 24 hours. Monitor for restlessness, vomiting, or tremors; if these recur, bring him back immediately. Keep all chocolate and sweets stored out of his reach.

Thank you for your quick response — it likely prevented a more severe outcome.

Kind regards,
Dr. Arvind Menon, DVM
