Dear Dr. Richards,

I am urgently referring Robert Hall, a 35-year-old man, for surgical management of a mandibular fracture.

Two days ago, he was involved in a motorbike accident and now reports pain, swelling, and difficulty closing his teeth in the correct position. Examination revealed swelling on the right side of his face, restricted mouth opening, and a palpable step deformity. Radiographs confirmed a fracture at the angle of the mandible.

He has no relevant systemic illness apart from being a smoker.

Given the nature of the injury, urgent surgical intervention is required.
