To: Dr. Harris

Dear Dr. Harris,

I am writing regarding your patient, Master Ryan Kelly, aged eight, who was recently prescribed Amoxicillin suspension 250mg three times daily for acute otitis media.

His parents reported that Ryan is refusing to take the medication due to its unpleasant taste. Despite attempts to mix the antibiotic with juice, compliance remains poor, with at least two doses missed in the last two days.

Currently, his symptoms are mild, with slight ear discomfort, no fever, and preserved appetite. However, the lack of adherence raises concerns about treatment efficacy and resistance.

I would suggest considering an alternative formulation, possibly with improved palatability, or a different antibiotic preparation better tolerated in children.

Your advice on modifying his prescription would help ensure effective treatment.

Yours sincerely,
