Dear Laboratory Technician,

I am referring Ms. Laura Bennett, a 32-year-old schoolteacher, for hematological investigations to evaluate possible iron deficiency anemia.

She reports progressive fatigue, exertional breathlessness, and palpitations for the past two months. Clinical assessment revealed pallor and mild tachycardia. Her past medical history is unremarkable, though her mother has hypothyroidism. Ms. Bennett follows a vegetarian diet and is not on any medications.

Could you kindly perform a complete blood count, serum ferritin, and a peripheral blood smear to establish the diagnosis?

Your assistance in processing these tests will significantly aid in planning appropriate management.

Yours sincerely,
