Dear Speech Pathologist,

I am referring Miss Zoe Patel, a six-year-old girl with autism spectrum disorder, for evaluation and management of social communication difficulties.

Zoe demonstrates limited eye contact, echolalia, and challenges with conversational turn-taking. Although she can form short sentences, she struggles to use language appropriately in social contexts. These difficulties are affecting peer interaction and classroom participation. Cognitive and motor development are age-appropriate, and her family is supportive and highly motivated.

We request a comprehensive social communication assessment, followed by targeted therapy and strategies to enhance interaction skills. Guidance for parents and teachers to reinforce communication strategies at home and school is also requested.

Yours sincerely,
Paediatrician
